The Bürger Bund Bonn (BBB) is a free voter community in Bonn in the legal form of a registered association .
history
The BBB was created in 1991 as a citizens' initiative in the course of the Bonn / Berlin capital city discussion . The BBB was the organizer of the so-called Thursday demonstrations on the market square in Bonn, with which the electoral community protested against the, in their opinion, senseless relocation of parliament and parts of the government to Berlin .
Political profile
BBB is for direct democracy . He advocates citizens' initiatives , petitions and referendums in local politics . Further central topics of the BBB are also a balanced public budget taking into account the economic efficiency principle as well as the avoidance of wasted taxpayers' money and the fight against corruption . For this, the BBB relies primarily on the forces of the private sector and rejects any form of planned economy and paternalism of the citizens. In this respect, the electoral association is committed to economic liberalism , but at the same time insists on democratic control. The BBB advocates decentralized politics and administration in Bonn, for example by strengthening the district representatives . It is important to the voters' association to strengthen Bonn as a location through strict compliance with the Berlin / Bonn Act . Recently, the BBB, and especially its chairman of the city council, Bernhard Wimmer, has been certified as pursuing a conservative policy. Actually untypical for the other political orientation, however, the BBB is also campaigning for an ecological and natural Bonn and opposes too dense development and excessive concreting of the federal city. The fight against aircraft noise continues to be a green issue, which the BBB is taking up.
Free electoral association
The BBB has been participating in the local elections in Bonn since 1994 . As a free electoral association, the BBB acts only on a local level and is therefore not bound by any "instructions" from a state or federal association.
In addition to its political work in the committees of the city of Bonn, the BBB regularly organizes public discussions on current political issues. The Citizens' Federation of Bonn is committed to more democracy at local, but also at state and federal level. Therefore, the BBB is also a member of the association Mehr Demokratie e. V.
In the local elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2009 , the BBB received 3.61% of the vote and moved into the Bonn council with three city councilors in parliamentary groups. The BBB will run again in the municipal elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2014 .
The BBB is currently also represented in the Bonn , Bad Godesberg and Beuel districts, each with a district councilor.
