The Bürgle , also called Hiltenburg or Burgleh , is the castle stables of an early to high medieval moated castle of unknown class to the northeast of Heudorf , a district of Scheer , in the district of Sigmaringen in Baden-Württemberg , Germany .

Geographical location

The Niederungsburg of the type of a tower hill castle (Motte) is located about 1000 meters northeast of Heudorf at about 598 meters above sea level in the flat terrain of the district "Hohe Egerten" on the Heudorfer Bach . The location of the "castle" near the forest is characterized by a high, circular hill near the "Dollhofer Weg".

history

Historical news about the castle is missing. However, the moated castle is an early or high medieval complex, which was probably razed after its decline . The village of Heudorf was first mentioned in a document in 1231.

description

Only a few remains of the former moated castle have survived. It was surrounded by a circular, but now filled, trench with a diameter of 125 to 130 meters. In it stands the approximately ten meter high and wooded mound ( Motte ), with a diameter at the base of 70 to 75 meters. This hill is surrounded by a ring-shaped outer bailey , and this is surrounded by a heavily sanded wall.

“The whole hill is surrounded by a moat and wall, and at the top you can still find traces of walls. Arrows and other implements have often been dug up nearby. A lock is said to have stood here too. "

Landscape protection area

The area around the former castle stable is designated as a landscape protection area under the name " Former Castle near Heudorf " .
