BAP ( Korean 비 에이피 , an acronym for B est A bsolute P erfect) is a South Korean boy band founded by TS Entertainment in 2012 . The group officially debuted on January 26, 2012 with the single Warrior . The group's official fan club name is Baby .
Band history
In January 2012, the reality show Ta-Dah, It's BAP was broadcast on the Korean broadcaster SBS MTV. The show worked with the concept that the BAP members are aliens from another planet who are now on Earth to save their planet Mato. On January 26, 2012, the group debuted with their first single Warrior ; the album of the same name was released on February 2, 2012. The EP was # 10 on the Billboard World Albums Chart. Warrior was sold more than 10,000 times in South Korea in two days.
On April 27, 2012 they released the album Power . Shortly after its release, 30,000 copies of the album were sold out. This album also reached number 10 on the Billboard World Album Charts. On October 13, 2012, BAP performed for the first time in the USA .
On March 2, 2013, their third album, One Shot, reached # 1 on the Billboard World Albums Chart. That same month, BAP announced that it would give concerts in Los Angeles , San Francisco , Washington, DC and New York City . All 10,000 seats were sold out within an hour.
In February 2016 the fifth EP called Carnival was released, which contains six songs. In March 2016, BAP released their first Japanese studio album called Best. Absolute. Perfect. with thirteen new songs. From April to July the group gave concerts in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Italy, Finland, Germany, Poland, Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Russia.
In August, BAP released their fifth single, Put 'Em Up. In November, the album Noir was released with the title song Skydive . The group again topped the Billboard world album charts. In March 2017, BAP released the song Rose . This was the first comeback with Bang Yong-guk, who had been on hiatus for four months.
On August 23, 2018, TS Entertainment announced that Yongguk had decided not to renew his contract and to leave the agency and BAP. The group will continue with the remaining five members. Zelo left the group in December 2018. TS Entertainment announced on December 24th that Zelo's contract expired on December 2nd and that he had decided to leave BAP and the agency.
On February 18, 2019, it was reported that the remaining four members had not renewed their contracts and had left the agency. Jongup and Daehyun said in an interview on the same day that BAP had not been dissolved. Currently, all members are concentrating on solo projects and want to work together again as a group later.
