BT Express

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

BT Express (original name Brooklyn Trucking Express) was an American funk / disco band of the 1970s with several hits in the same decade.

The band was founded in 1972 under the name "King Davis House Rockers", which was later renamed BT Express . The band broke up in 1981.

The band

included the following members:

  • Singer Barbara Joyce Lomas
  • Saxophone / vocals Bill Risbrook
  • Percussion Dennis Rowe
  • Guitar Rick Thompson
  • Saxophone / flute Carlos Ward
  • Keyboard Michael Jones (Kashif)
  • Lead guitar / singer Wesley Hall
  • Drums Leslie Ming
  • Bass / keys / vocals Louis Risbrook

Michael Jones, who played keyboard in the band from 1976 to 1979, later left the band, recorded a few records under his stage name "Kashif" and had some hits in the R&B sector in the 80s.

Chart successes

BT Express was best known for the # 2 Billboard Hot 100 single Do It ('Til You're Satisfied) from 1974 (which also went to # 1 in the Hot Dance Music / Club Play charts), as well as the successor single Express (Hot 100 # 4). Several top 100 placements followed, but after the album Shout! the chart success subsided.

BT Express left the charts completely by 1980 and attempted a comeback with BT Express in 1980 , but only Give up the Funk (Let's Dance) made it into the top 30 (# 24). There followed numerous attempts at other record labels, including Record Shack, Earthtone and King Davis. However, it was no longer possible to build on previous successes.
