history

Bernhard Johannes Strautmann trained as a blacksmith at the Carl Hagedorn company in Bad Laer . After several years of traveling as a journeyman, in 1912 he took over the forge in Winkelsetten, which his father had founded in 1890, today a district of Bad Laer. The history of the Strautmann company began in 1930 when Bernhard Johannes Strautmann took over his former training company, the Carl Hagedorn agricultural machinery factory . At that time, hand rakes , potato crushers , and beet and straw cutters were manufactured in the agricultural equipment factory . From 1954 the first manure spreaders were manufactured by Strautmann.

In the 1960s the company was continued by the three sons Herrmann, Heinrich and Bernhard. Heinrich Strautmann, the only one of the three to have completed a degree (Dipl.-Ing. For mechanical engineering in Aachen), subsequently took over the management. He developed agricultural machines and introduced them to the company. The following were their sons, Wolfgang, Klaus and Heinz-Bernhard. From around 2000 Wolfgang Strautmann, the son of Herrmann Strautmann, took over the management. In 2000, the company introduced self-propelled mixer feeders.
