The district of Bátonyterenye (Hungarian Bátonyterenyei járás ) is a district in the east of the northern Hungarian county of Nógrád . It borders on the Pásztó County in the south-west and Salgótarján County in the west and north . Heves county forms the border in the east and south .
history
During the Hungarian administrative reform in early 2013, the district emerged with 8 of the 14 municipalities from its predecessor, the small area of the same name (Hungarian Bátonyterenyei kistérség ). This corresponded to 78.7% of the area and 90.5% of the population of the small area. The remaining 6 communities moved to the northern district of Salgótarján .

The population density of the smallest district is higher than that of the county. The administrative center is located in the only town, Bátonyterenye , in the northern part of the district.
