The Balassagyarmat District (Hungarian Balassagyarmati járás ) is a district within the northern Hungarian Nógrád County . It borders on the Rétság district in the west, the Szécsény district in the northeast and the Pásztó district in the southeast . Pest County forms the border in the south and north-west . After all, ten municipalities in the north form the border with Slovakia .

history

During the Hungarian administrative reform in early 2013, the district emerged unchanged with all 29 municipalities from its predecessor, the small area of the same name (Hungarian Balassagyarmati kistérség ).
