Érsekvadkert (until 1906 Vadkert or Uodkert ) is a municipality in Nógrád County in northern Hungary with about 3733 inhabitants (as of 2011).
Archaeological finds show that the community was already inhabited in the 10th century. It is one of the oldest Hungarian settlements and was first mentioned in writing in 1227. The Ottomans conquered the village in 1540. At that time, there were three neighboring settlements with the name Vadkert (Felső-Vadkert = Upper Vadkert, Közép-Vadkert = Middle Vadkert and Alsó-Vadkert = Lower Vadkert). The village received market rights in 1733 (Hungarian Mezővárosi jog ). Vadkert was a market town from 1733 to 1870. On January 22nd, 1710, the “Battle of Vadkert-Romhányer” ( uprising of Francis II Rákóczi ) took place near the village .
