Bátonyterenye is a Hungarian city ​​and the seat of the Bátonyterenye County in Nógrád County . It lies on the Zagyva River and on the north-western edge of the Mátra .

history

Bátonyterenye was founded on January 1, 1984 through the merger of Nagybátony (to which Maconka belonged from 1965), Kisterenye and Szúpatak. In 1989 the place got town rights.

The place is on the railway line 81 ( Hatvan - Salgótarján - Somoskőújfalu ) and is the final stop of the railway line 83/84 (Kisterenye- Kál-Kápolna ).

The national road 21 runs through the town, and here begins the main road 23 towards Tarnalelesz .
