The Sports Association Leipzig 1910 e. V. is a German sports club that was originally founded in 1910 and is based in the Saxon city ​​of Leipzig . The original soccer department was part of the Leipzig FC 07 in 2007 . The men's team of the bowling department is to play in the 2nd Bundesliga East for the 2020/21 season.

BC Arminia 1903 Leipzig

The BC Arminia Leipzig was founded on July 1, 1903 and managed by the season 1925/26 promotion to the first class of Gau Northwest Saxony . Within the Central German Championship in the VMBV, the class could be held there in the first season with 12:24 points and eighth place. After the 1928/29 season , the team had to relegate due to only 8:28 points and the last place in the table. In the 1933/43 season the team played in the 1st district class Leipzig . After the formation of a war syndicate with the Leipzig Sports Association , the club was dissolved at the end of the Second World War and became part of the SG Leipzig-Schönefeld .

Sports Association Leipzig

The Leipzig Sports Association was founded in 1910. It is known that the club's soccer team within the Gau North-West Saxony took part in the promotion games to the district class after the 1933/34 season and was then able to take part in these in the following season. After the 1937/38 season, he was promoted to the district class again. In the 1942/43 season the team played in 1st class in Leipzig .

KSG Sports Association / Arminia Leipzig

For the 1943/44 season, BC Arminia and the sports association merged to form a war game community. This was then incorporated into the Leipzig group of the Gauliga Sachsen for the 1944/45 season within Season 2 . However, as the game was stopped in December 1944 due to the advancing Second World War, KSG only played two games that season. At this point the team was in third place in the table with 2: 2 points and 5: 5 goals. After the end of the war this KSG was dissolved again.

After the war, Arminia and the sports association were merged into SG Leipzig-Schönefeld . A short time later this resulted in the BSG Progress LWK Leipzig . The soccer team played in season C of the 2nd district class Leipzig-Stadt in the 1952/53 season . At least from the 1957 season, the team belonged to the 1st district class Leipzig-Stadt and played there this season within season 3 where fifth place could be achieved with 24:16 points and 42:39 goals. After the 1959 season, the team was able to place itself with 36:12 points on the first place of their season, but the team could not rise after this season. This rise was then achieved after the 1965/66 season, which was completed with 41:11 points and 63:31 goals in first place of season 1.

The first season 1966/67 in the district class Leipzig was finished with 26:26 points within the season 2 with the seventh place, whereby the relegation was achieved. After the 1969/70 season, the team had to descend again with 16:36 points over the 13th place in season 2.

The first season back in the meanwhile single-track 1st district class Leipzig-Stadt could then be finished in seventh place with 25:27 points. After the 1976/77 season, the team was even to relegate back to the 2nd district class with only 19:23 points over 12th place in the table. There the team then played in the 1977/78 season within season 2 and reached second place with 36:16 points. From the 1981/82 season on, the team was able to play in the 1st district class again and finished fifth there with 26:26 points. The 1988/89 season ended for the team with 13:39 points in the city class in 14th and last place. In the 1st district class season 1, the team then finished fourth again at the end of the 1990/91 season with 34:18 points.

Football department until 2007

In 1990 the former BSG became the newly founded SV Leipzig 1910 under the original name . This took over the starting place in the 1st district class and after the 1991/92 season took first place in season 1 with 36:10 points. Moved up to the city class, it came ninth after the next season with 24:30 points. With a score of 20:36 and the penultimate 14th place, however, after the 1994/95 season it went back down to the 1st district class. There, however, the first place was achieved with 48 points and thus the direct promotion. In the meanwhile city league and double-track division, the team was then grouped into Season 2. There, with 42 points, they directly reached fourth place. After the 2000/01 season, however, only managed 13th place with 25 points. Nothing is known about the further course of the league membership of the team. In April 2007, the soccer department was part of the Leipzig FC 07. The first season of this club began in the 3rd district class season 2 .

Current time

The club currently consists of a bowling department. Its men's team will be promoted from the 1st association league for the 2020/21 season and will play in the 2nd Bundesliga East again. Up until the 2016/17 season, the team had already played in the 2nd Bundesliga East / Central. The women's team currently plays in the 1st district league.

There is also a tennis department, which has existed since 1955.
