The journal Business Research and Practice (BFuP) is a German-language scientific journal in the field of business administration , which is published by NWB Verlag . Initially, the magazine was published by the study society for business administration. It was published by Heckner Verlag until 1957.

history

The magazine was founded in 1949 by Wilhelm Hasenack ( Georg-August University of Göttingen ) and continued as editor from 1971 to 2004 by Günter Sieben ( University of Cologne ). In 1978 Manfred Jürgen Matschke ( Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University Greifswald ) was accepted into the editorial team of the BFuP, whose management he took over from 1998 to 2008. Thomas Hering ( Open University in Hagen ) has been in this position since January 1st, 2009 . In addition to Thomas Hering, the group of editors was expanded to include Thomas Schildbach ( University of Passau ) (1982 to 2010) as well as Michael Olbrich ( University of Saarland ) and Lutz Richter ( University of Trier ).

The thematic orientation of the BFuP includes general business administration, but in particular accounting and finance, auditing and taxation as well as company valuation. All submitted contributions are subject to a double-blind review. As a rule, each issue is dedicated to a specific main topic. The target group are both theorists and practitioners.

The circulation of the BFuP is approx. 650 copies (status: 2nd quarter 2010).

reception

BFuP is the only German-language business journal that is included in the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) of the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI).

An evaluation of journals of accounting and taxation from the point of view of university professors places the BFuP on the 14th place (overall evaluation of the subgroups "taxes", "external accounting, auditing" and "internal accounting, controlling"). In the area of ​​"Taxes" the BFuP occupies the 8th place, in the area "External accounting, auditing" the 10th place and in the area "Internal accounting, controlling" the 28th place. 196 journals were evaluated.

The pa-Jour torment 3.0 from 2015 ranks BFuP in the category C one.
