The BKK Stadt Augsburg is a German health insurance company based in Augsburg . It belongs to the group of business-related company health insurance and as bearers of public health insurance is a public corporation with self-government.
Company health insurance
The company health insurance fund was established on January 1, 1913 by merging the company health insurance fund of the city gas works, which had existed since January 1, 1885, and the company health insurance fund for the city trams, which had existed since July 1, 1887.
Employees of the City of Augsburg and its subsidiaries as well as their families can claim the benefits provided by statutory health insurance. In addition, employees of Stadtwerke Augsburg, Stadtsparkasse Augsburg and Augsburg University Hospital can take out insurance from the BKK Stadt Augsburg.
In the 2018 financial year, expenditure of 63.60 million euros was higher than income of 61.59 million euros. The BKK Stadt Augsburg levied an additional contribution of 1.5 percent in 2019 , and of 2.7 percent since 2020. This makes it the highest additional contribution of all health insurance companies in Germany.
Care fund
Since January 1, 1995, there has also been a care fund under the umbrella of the company health insurance fund . This is a legally independent organization with its own budget and annual accounts.
In the 2017 financial year, the income of the long-term care insurance totaled € 10,076,722.68 and the expenditure amounted to € 9,819,354.38.
