The BKK firmus , based in Bremen, is a German company health insurance fund . It is a public corporation with self-administration .

Contribution rates

Since January 1, 2009 the contribution rates have been standardized by the legislator. From 2015 to 2018, it levied an income-related additional contribution of 0.6 percent of the underlying income. Since 2019, the additional contribution has been 0.44 percent.

The BKK firmus is run by a board and is open nationwide. It operates 15 branches in Bremen , Lower Saxony , North Rhine-Westphalia and Saxony .

history

BKK firmus was created through the merger of BKK Unterweser and BKK Osnabrück. BKK Osnabrück was created in 1996 through the merger of nine company health insurance funds and merged with BKK Homann Feinkost in the same year  . BKK Unterweser was created in 1997 through the merger of BKK  Bremer Vulkan , BKK  Bremer Woll-Kämmerei and BKK  Dewers . In 2004 the BKK  Bremer Straßenbahn AG merged with the BKK firmus. The first BKK was founded in 1841.
