Hinrich Dewers

Hinrich Dewers (born November 8, 1856 in Rönnebeck ; † March 25, 1941 in Bremen - Blumenthal ) was a German entrepreneur and mayor of Rönnebeck.

Life

Dewers was the son of the factory owner Werner Dewers (1830–1882). He graduated from a private school. In 1871 he joined the brass foundry that his father had acquired and learned the craft of the brass foundry. After the death of his father, he took over the factory in 1882. The company experienced a great boom through his leadership. In 1927 he took over the iron foundry and machine factory Friedrich Schwarting . With this expansion of his company, she achieved an important position in shipbuilding as well as in international business. The company almost collapsed during the Great Depression. However , it overcame the crisis period from 1928 to 1930 through major orders from the navy and through production changes for locomotive fittings . As a fittings factory , the company achieved a top position in Germany.

Dewers was also active in community politics. From 1889 to 1908 he was the community leader (mayor) of Rönnebeck.
