BMW Manufacturing (Thailand)

BMW Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. is an automobile manufacturer in the Rayong Province in the eastern region of Thailand and a subsidiary of the BMW Group Thailand.

history

The first BMW was the BMW 700 in 1961 or 1963 by Thai Yarnyon Co., Ltd. (part of the Yontrakit Corporation ) . imported to Thailand. From 1973 Yontrakit assembled models from many other brands in addition to BMWs. By the late 1980s, Yontrakit had built or imported around 50,000 BMW vehicles in Thailand. The 3780 assembled vehicles of the BMW E12 series were the second largest number that was assembled outside of Germany.

The BMW Group Thailand was founded in 1998 as a subsidiary of BMW AG and consists of three companies: BMW (Thailand) Co., Ltd. for sales, BMW Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. for production and BMW Leasing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. for financial services.

Work began in May 2000 with the production of the BMW 3 series . In October 2002 the long version of the 7 series was added. A little later, the production of the 5 series started in April 2004. In 2005 the 3 series was replaced by the fifth generation . In January 2006, the fourth model was added with the BMW X3 . Finally, there was a new generation change in January 2010 for the 5 series and in August of the same year for the 7 series . In the same year, the X1 was introduced as the 5th model in Thailand. The X3 followed a year later .
