The BNP Paribas Open 2009 was a tennis tournament of the WTA Tour 2009 for women and a tennis tournament of the ATP World Tour 2009 for men in Indian Wells , which took place simultaneously from March 11th to 22nd, 2009.
Defending champion in the singles was Novak Đoković in the men and Serena Williams in the women. In the men's doubles the pairing Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram , in the women's doubles the pairing Katarina Srebotnik and Ai Sugiyama were the defending champions.
