The Baalensee is a small natural lake in the Rheinsberg lake area . It lies entirely in the urban area of Fürstenberg / Havel in the Oberhavel district in Brandenburg and is traversed by the Havel .
Geographical location and hydrography
The Baalensee is located in the immediate urban area of Fürstenberg / Havel. It is the southeastern of the three lakes that frame the old town center. It is around 600 meters long and 400 meters wide and has an area of around 19 hectares.
history
The lake was first mentioned in a document as early as 1299 ( stagnum Balam ). Along with 38 other lakes named above, it was part of the initial equipment of the Himmelpfort monastery . The monastery had the sole right of use on this lake. The name can be interpreted as a Slavic water body name, in the developed meaning "wet lowland".
Management
The lake is managed by the Krempig lake fishery.
