Baby is an Italian coming-of-age series by Andrea De Sica and Anna Negri . The six episodes of the first season were released on November 30, 2018 on Netflix .

The series follows a group of teenagers from the Roman municipality of Parioli against a backdrop of forbidden love, depressing family problems and shared secrets. The main female characters in the series are lured into youth prostitution.

| “Our world is the best possible of all. We are in this beautiful aquarium and still long for the sea. And although or perhaps because everything seems to be so perfect, we need a secret, a double life. "
With these words of the main actress Chiara the series Baby begins. Right at the beginning you learn about her great love for sport and her secret relationship with Niccolo, the brother of her best friend Camilla. Damiano, the ambassador's son, is new to the school and is not very familiar with everyday life. He often appears as rebellious, including dealing in drugs. Ludovica, a girl from poorer backgrounds, got her reputation in school because of a lewd video and therefore doesn't go down well with everyone. Chiara and Ludovica become friends anyway and go to a party where Damiano's scooter is stolen. He then hits a car because the scooter belonged to his deceased mother, which is why he cares a lot. Chiara manages to calm him down, whereupon Damiano gives Chiara his jacket because of the cold. Damiano tries to find his own scooter with the help of Fabio's scooter. Chiara and Ludovica go to a club that they are only allowed to thanks to Ludovica's acquaintances. There they have fun together. |

| Because of a party night together, the unpopular Ludovica approaches Chiara at school, but she denies having spent time with her in front of her friends. Not only her friends, but also Chiara's mother is not enthusiastic about Ludovica, even if she does not openly admit it.
After reclaiming Fabio's scooter from Damiano, Camilla joins Chiara and Fabio and raves about Damiano to them. Chiara suddenly leaves her friends because she has developed feelings for Damiano herself. The harmonious appearance between Chiara's parents is clearly just a play, which is why Chiara continues to isolate herself from her parents. Her father notices this and gives her a small car. Niccolo learns of Chiara's interest in Damiano, which is why he confronts her, which ends in an argument. Damiano also argues with a friend from his old clique and throws her out of his new home. Ludovica's mother has significant problems paying her daughter's school fees and constantly argues with her ex-husband, Ludovica's father. She initially forbids her daughter to go to her father's wedding, but changes her mind at short notice. Damiano and Chiara meet by chance at a formal event, and here, too, the two get closer. | Chiara and Camila fall out over the secret affair. Fabio skips school with Damiano and confesses this to his father, whereby Fabio gets house arrest.
At school, Chiara Damiano puts the borrowed jacket under his bench with a personal note on it. Shortly afterwards Brando Damiano writes “Arab scum” on the school desk and discovers the jacket and steals it. Ludovica's mother cannot pay the school fees for Ludovica. Fiore, Ludovica's friend, has a money printing machine and gives Ludo the money for the fees. Damiano is invited by Chiara to her competition and sees Chiara and Niccolo together, which is why he flees angrily. Niccolo tries to convince Chiara that she will come back to him, but fails. Chiara wins the competition. At the same time, Niccolo ransacked the director's office, wearing Damiano's stolen jacket. Damiano is expelled from school because of the incident. Chiara’s parents learn that she has forged the consent form for America, which ends in a dispute. As a result, Chiara sneaks out after the argument to look for Ludo in the club. Camila finds Damiano's jacket in Niccolo's room and threatens him to tell the truth. Chiara and Camila have a discussion, and Camila makes it clear to her that she doesn't want a friend like her. Saverio suggests to Ludo to meet men for money, with her own decision as to whether she would like to continue. He seduces Ludo into prostitution. Damiano and Niccolo run into each other on the street, which ends in a fight. Damiano gets his jacket back and finds Chiara's note "I like you, even though you're such an asshole". |

| Chiara tells Ludo that she kissed a strange man in the club. Saverio sends Ludo the number of a dentist, whereupon Ludovica goes to eat with him. Saverio then tells Ludo that a man would also be interested in Chiara. Ludovica tells Chiara that she is considering meeting men for a fee. Chiara is not averse to the idea.
Damiano's drug delivery company puts pressure on him because of the missing € 300. Fabio then sells marijuana at school because Damiano wants to help pay off his debts. Niccolo invites Damiano to his party. He asks the sports teacher Monica, who has a relationship with Damiano's father, if Damiano could come to the party. Ludovica tells Fiore that she was once very in love with Brando and that he made private recordings of him and her public. Thereupon Fiore Brando smashes the car window. Ludivica also gives her mother the money for the school fees. Saverio sends Chiara a number from a man named Alessandro. At Camila and Niccolo's party, Chiara sees Camila flirting with Damiano. Chiara tells Damiano to stay away from her. After the party, Chiara writes to Alessandro that her name is Emma. Niccolo leaves Virginia, she is completely dissolved and confides in Fabio, who then kisses her. Chiara meets with Alessandro for dinner, after which they go to his home and have sex. At first she refuses the money for the sex, but ultimately takes the envelope with the name "Emma". Camila and Damiano go on a date and they kiss. The series was produced by Fabula Pictures . It was shot exclusively in Rome . The series is based on the Baby Squillo scandal from 2014: Two teenage girls from upscale homes voluntarily prostituted themselves to politicians, managers and entrepreneurs in order to be able to buy expensive luxury items. The plot was heavily criticized for the trivializing representation of child prostitution.
