The Bacatá Center (project name BD Bacatá for Bogotá Downtown Bacatá ) is a skyscraper with two towers under construction since September 2011 in the Santa Fe district and thus in the historical center of Bogotá . It is being built on Calle 19 # 5-20 and is largely completed. With a height of 260 meters and 67 floors, the south tower will tower over the tallest building in Colombia and the first to date, the Torre Colpatria , by 68 meters. The skyscraper is being crowdfunded , which means that private individuals could buy it for shares and fiduciary rights .
The name Bacatá comes from the local indigenous Muisca culture of the Chibcha people and in their language means something like "fencing or enclosure", located just outside an estate.
prehistory
Since the end of the 2000s, those responsible for the city of Bogotá have recognized the need to transform and revitalize damaged or disused areas of the old city center with its strategic location in order to generate new impulses for social and economic development, similar to other international metropolises. The BD Bacatá is positioned as the most ambitious architectural project in Bogotá for a long time as a new symbol of the renewal of the inner city.
Characteristic
The BD Bacatá project consists of two towers, the north tower (216 m, 709 ft) and the south tower (260 m, 853 ft), of which the higher south tower has 67 floors on a floor area of 114.384 m 2 . The BD Promo Colombia company is responsible for the project and is investing 240 billion pesos (around 75 million euros).
The whole complex rises from a commercial platform from which three stylized blocks emerge; one with 405 apartments between 40 and 60 m 2 , one with modular offices from 50 to 70 m 2 and finally a five-star hotel, including standard, executive and suites. The first premises were put into operation in 2016.
The features of the skyscraper are certainly unique in all of Bogotá. A total of 405 apartments, 52 luxury suites in the top part of the building, 117 offices in the north tower between the 5th and 27th floors, a shopping center with 6,500m 2 , approx. 750 private and public parking spaces, a luxury hotel and a hotel with 63 apartments in the south tower for longer stays for professionals, teachers, students, politicians, investors, executives and entrepreneurs. It is operated by the Spanish group Eurostars Hotels. A total of 25,000 m 2 of glass will be installed, which corresponds to about four soccer fields.
