The Torre Colpatria is a skyscraper in the Colombian capital Bogotá in the Santa Fe district . With a square footprint and a height of 196 meters, it was for a long time the tallest and most representative building in the city, pride and symbol of the city and country's economic awakening. The Edificio Colpatria , as it is also called, is located at the intersection of Avenida Eldorado and Carrera Septima and nestles against the eastern Andes chain . The owner is the Colombian holding company Grupo Colpatria .
You get a great panoramic view of Bogotá when you drive up to the 48th floor of the building. The opening times for visiting the Torre Colpatria viewpoint are on Fridays from 6pm to 7pm; Saturdays from 2 pm to 8 pm and Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm. The ticket costs 7,000 COP (approx. 2 EUR ) per person.
Colorful LED technology lights were installed on the facade of the building and can be seen from various points in the city at night. Since August 6, 1998, on the anniversary of the city, the tower has had this lighting system, which projects rays of light onto the white pilasters . The colors of the projector filters change several times per minute and are reminiscent of moving waves or shutters that open or close. Sometimes the rays are also composed with the colors of the Colombian flag.
