The Bach Ice Shelf is an irregularly shaped, Antarctic ice shelf with an extension of about 72 km, which is located off the south coast of Alexander I Island in the Bach Inlet . The seaward edge of the ice shelf is described separately as the stream ice front .

Maps that were created in the course of the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941) on the basis of survey work and with the help of aerial photographs show a small bay at the current position of the ice shelf . A more accurate positioning took the British geographer Derek Searle of Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey in 1960 on the basis of aerial photographs of US Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947-1948) before. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the ice shelf after the German composer Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750).
