Jared William Hoying (born May 18, 1989 in Fort Loramie , Ohio ) is an American baseball player . He currently plays the position of outfielders for the Hanwha Eagles in the KBO League . He previously played for the Texas Rangers in Major League Baseball (MLB).

Career

Hoying played college baseball at the University of Toledo for the Toledo Rockets . There he hit the second most home runs in team history. Jared Hoying was in the Major League Baseball Draft 2010 as the 316th player in the tenth round of the Texas Rangers selected. He began his professional career with the Class A short season team Spokane Indians . In 2011 he moved to the Class A Advanced Team Myrtle Beach Pelicans , where he stayed for one season, before joining the Frisco Rough Riders ( Class AA ) in 2012 , where he stayed for two seasons. On June 7, 2013, Hoying moved to Round Rock Express , a triple-A team , where he had a punch of .319 and stood out for his strong defensive performance.

He was named to the Texas Rangers squad on May 23, 2016 and made his MLB debut on the same day. There he remained until June 11, 2016. On July 7, 2016, he was brought back to the Rangers, where he replaced the injured catcher Bryan Holaday . On July 26, 2016, the Rangers sent Hoying back to the Round Rocks because they needed his squad spot for Joey Gall . On September 6, 2016, he was reappointed by the Rangers. After Hoying could not agree on a new contract with the Rangers, they made him a free agent on December 2, 2016 . On December 8, 2016, the Rangers gave him a minor league contract and invited him to spring training . On May 16, 2017, he was reappointed to the MLB by the Rangers. The following day, he scored his first MLB home run in the game against the Philadelphia Phillies and was named MVP of the game. On June 19, 2017, he was sent back to the minor league. On September 4, 2017, he was reappointed to the MLB. On October 10, 2017, Hopying returned to the Triple-A Round Rock Express. On November 6th, he chose the Free Agency .

On November 28, 2017, Hoying signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Angels . In December 2017, Hoying asked to be fired because he had the prospect of a more profitable contract in South Korea. The Angels complied and released him on December 17, 2017. The following day, he signed a contract with the Hanwha Eagles of the KBO League for $ 700,000. In 2018 he was able to produce a batting average of .306 with 30 home runs, 110 RBIs and 47 doubles in 142 games. In 2019 he had a stroke of .284 for 18 home runs, 26 doubles and 73 RBIs in 124 games before an ankle injury meant the end of the season for him. In December 2019, he signed a new one-year contract for $ 800,000.
