history

Bachzimmer was first mentioned in a document in the 12th century.

In 1812 a new smelter was built, called the Amalienhütte since 1833 , with which Bachzimmer experienced its heyday. In the 1830s the hut was run by Ferdinand von Steinbeis . Therefore, his son Otto von Steinbeis was born in Bachzimmer. In 1878 it was finally shut down for good.

Bachzimmer was already a political part of Immendingen when the community was reformed. The place currently has around 50 residents.

The forest base Tuttlingen / Bachzimmer, with forestry training in Bachzimmer, is operated by the public-law institution Forst Baden-Württemberg (ForstBW) .
