history

In 1880 Ernst August Hanigbrink applied for the construction of a sulfur bath. He received approval from Münster in 1881 after a water analysis. The opening of the bath was on May 14, 1882. The source was then called Hermannsquelle. Initially, the bathroom was designed for ten to twelve patients. At that time the cost was 3 marks per day and 50 pfennigs for a bath. A few years later, the building was expanded into a larger and more magnificent bathroom. In 1906 parts of the building burned down, and the sulfur bath was closed because of this and because of the increasingly less productive spring due to the advancing ore mining . After that, the facility was sold for 120,000 marks and used to accommodate foreign workers. During the First World War , the building served as a hospital for 50 soldiers.

The main building was preserved until 1993, but then it burned down. Today there are only two buildings that are currently used as residential buildings.
