Location of Ledde in North Rhine-Westphalia

Ledde is one of four districts of the city of Tecklenburg in the Westphalian region of Tecklenburger Land ( Steinfurt district ). The Protestant village church and the old half-timbered houses in the Ledder farmers are especially worth seeing. The village is located on the Ibbenbürener Aa , in a valley between the Schafberg and the Teutoburg Forest .

history

The history of Ledde can be traced back to the time between 9600 and 6500 BC. When a Medieval to Neolithic nomadic settlement was established there. Many archaeological finds from Ledde such as arrowheads and stone axes are exhibited in the Westphalian Museum of Archeology in Herne .

After Christianization, a settlement of craftsmen and merchants developed around the first Romanesque church. Ledde was first mentioned as Lytha around 1160 . In the 13th century the parish of Ledde made itself independent of Ibbenbüren . During the Reformation, the place became Protestant.

In 1809, under Napoleonic rule, Ledde was subordinated to the Mairie and the canton of Tecklenburg. From 1836 Ledde had its own mayor. From 1844 a Ledde office was established, which had belonged to the Tecklenburg office since 1856.

With the municipal reform and the municipal reorganization in North Rhine-Westphalia, which came into force on January 1, 1975, Ledde finally lost its independence. The Tecklenburg office was dissolved and Ledde has been part of the city of Tecklenburg since then.

In 2010 the town of Ledde celebrated its 850th anniversary under the motto "Ledde 850 years young" with numerous events. The anniversary year was concluded with a festival weekend from 10th to 12th December. September 2010.
