The Bad Maria Einsiedel (or Maria-Einsiedel-Bad , name of the Stadtwerke München: Naturbad Maria Einsiedel ) is an outdoor pool operated by the Stadtwerke München at Zentralländstrasse 28 in the Thalkirchen district of Munich.

location

The pool is located in the Maria Einsiedel district of Thalkirchen near the Isar at the level of the Hellabrunn zoo on the corner between Zentralländstrasse and Benediktbeuerer Strasse . The area of the outdoor swimming pool extends roughly in a north-south direction between the Zentralländstraße and the Maria-Einsiedel-Bach , the former Mühlbach of the Schadeneckmühle in Maria Einsiedel.

Across the stream is the former Thalkirchen depot . On the other side of the Zentralländstrasse is the Zentrallände at the end of the raft canal . The canal, Mühlbach or Maria-Einsiedel-Kanal, which takes up the water overflow of the raft land, flows through the area of the natural pool and takes in the northern part of the Maria-Einsiedel-Bach. The central area restaurant is located next to the entrance of the Mühlbach into the natural pool .

history

The bath was built in 1890 as a bath for the then still independent municipality of Thalkirchen. In 1899 a new building was put into operation, further modifications and extensions followed in 1906 and 1908. In 1912 a women's pool was set up, in 1926 a family pool.

description

The area of the outdoor pool is about 400 meters long, its width is about 100 meters in the north and about 200 meters in the south. The access is about in the middle of the eastern long side on the central country road. South of the entrance is a wooden building with changing rooms , showers and lockers .

The rectangular swimmer pool is 50 meters long and 20 meters wide. In the south there is an irregularly shaped, approximately 35 meter long non-swimmer pond . The swimmers 'pool and the non-swimmers' pond are separated from each other by a trapezoidal deck made of wooden planks and only connected to each other on the sides by an approximately 6 meter wide canal. There is an oval paddling pool for small children at the southern end of the non-swimmers' pond. Overall, the outdoor pool has a water surface of 2,750 square meters. The Mühlbach, which runs through the area and is crossed by several bridges, is also used for swimming.

The swimming pools and the Mühlbach are surrounded by lawns that are lined with trees, the density of which increases towards the edge of the area. With this partially old stock of trees, the bath blends in well with the meadow landscape of the Isar valley. A separate part of the site is used as a nudist area . A play area has been set up next to the children's paddling pool. There is also a table tennis area and to the north of the site a ball playground with soccer goals. Between the central area and the Mühllbach there is a small beer garden, which is managed from the restaurant. Nearby, a stone figure of a mermaid sits on a pedestal.

Water treatment

Since the summer of 2008, the bath , which was threatened with closure in the 1990s, has been a natural bath in which the water is no longer chlorinated. Instead, the water is treated in an ecologically compatible way through biological cleaning with the help of microorganisms in an open pond and through mechanical filtering in gravel fields, some of which are under the lawn. The area used for water treatment is located in the south of the site on Benediktbeuerer Straße.
