history

A mill was built in the 14th century on the site of the later village of Maria Einsiedel , which was in operation until the 19th century. It was named Schadeneckmühle after a miller from the 16th century . Today's Maria-Einsiedelbach served as a mill stream .

In 1687, Councilor Adrian von Kray built a country seat next to the mill, today's Asam-Schlössl . In 1724 Cosmas Damian Asam bought the property. He named it Maria-Einsiedel-Tal after the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin in Einsiedeln Monastery , whose ceiling paintings were created by the Asam brothers between 1724 and 1726. He had the country house added and painted the facade with frescoes. Opposite the house he built a chapel, which was completed in 1730 and consecrated shortly afterwards.

Former Isar Valley Station Maria Einsiedel (around 1902)
