Cosmas Damian Asam (born September 28, 1686, presumably in Benediktbeuern , † May 10, 1739 in Munich ) was a German painter and architect of the late Baroque . Cosmas Damian Asam mainly worked with his brother, the plasterer and sculptor Egid Quirin Asam .

Cosmas Damian Asam was a son of the church painter Hans Georg Asam . He is considered a major master of southern German ceiling painting between Baroque and Rococo. He worked, partly together with his brother Egid Quirin Asam, in the design of the palaces in Bruchsal, Ettlingen and Mannheim and the Weingarten monastery church.

For the life and work of the Asam brothers, see Asam brothers .

On the 250th anniversary of Asam's death in 1989, the German Bundespost issued a commemorative stamp worth 60 pfennigs; it shows Cosmas Damian Asam in front of the ceiling fresco in the Weltenburg monastery church (see picture on the right).
