Bathing fountain

The Badestubenbrunnen with the sculpture Beim Bade , also called the happy bathers , is located in Bremen - Mitte in Schnoor , on Stavendamm near the Schifferhaus . It is included in the list of fountains in the city of Bremen .

The cheerful bronze couple on a granite plinth from 1986 came from the sculptor Jürgen Cominotto . The founder was the Schnoor Association Heini Holtenbeen . The fountain is supposed to remind of the time when there were still bathhouses in the Schnoor . In the Middle Ages, people liked to bathe. There were no bathrooms yet, so they went to public baths. A bath house is said to have stood in the street Stavendamm (Stave = room).

The sculpture was on 27./28. Stolen December 2007 by metal thieves . On May 19, 2008, an approximately ten-year-old cast of the fountain was mounted on the base. The cast, which had previously stood in the park of an Oldenburg retirement home, was purchased and donated for around 10,000 euros by 40 individuals, three companies and the Wohnliche Stadt Foundation .

From Cominotto are still u. a. the bronze sculpture Ottilie Hoffmann (1987) on Ostertorsteinweg / corner of Wulwesstraße and a sandstone sculpture in Gerhard-Rohlfs-Straße in Vegesack .
