Sculpture bathing in the Schnoor

In 1978 Jürgen Cominotto began studying sculpture at the Bremen University of the Arts in Bremen with Waldemar Otto. After graduating, he worked as a freelance sculptor.

He has been working as an art therapist since 1994 and as part of this activity deals with people in psychotherapy. He currently lives and works near Dresden .

The best-known work is the 1985 sculpture Beim Bade in the old town of Bremen. With the design, Cominotto won a competition in which the aim was to create a contemporary reference to the medieval bathhouses. The upper part is made of bronze and represents three people in the bath tub. The base represents the bath tub and is carved from granite. Inside the sculpture there is a water pipe that feeds a small fountain. In winter, however, the water is turned off due to the risk of frost. The sculpture replaced an older fountain, which historically verifiably stood in front of the Schifferhaus in Bremen.

On behalf of art lovers, two more copies of the same size were made from this work. One of them was in the park of a nursing home in Oldenburg until spring 2008 . In December 2007 the bronze attachment of the fountain in Bremen was stolen. The essay from Oldenburg was used as a replacement, so that the work of art in Bremen was complete again in March 2008.
