Christian Prosl

Christian Prosl (born August 21, 1946 in Eisenstadt , Austria ) is an Austrian diplomat who was Austrian Ambassador to the United States of America from 2009 to 2011 .

Life

Christian Prosl attended the Lycée Français de Vienne and then the Theresianum in Vienna. He then studied law and French at the University of Vienna . He then did military service and also the Jagdkommando basic course. This was followed by postgraduate studies at the Institut de Hautes Etudes Internationales in Geneva.

From 1973 to 1977 Prosl worked for the UNDP United Nations Development Program in Burkina Faso and Rwanda. In 1977 he joined the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs . Among other things, he was Consul General in Los Angeles , Deputy Secretary General in the State Department and Head of the Consular Section. From 2003 to 2009 Prosl was Ambassador of the Republic of Austria in the Federal Republic of Germany , then until November 2011 he was Austrian Ambassador in Washington, DC , USA.

Christian Prosl is married and has two sons.
