Badger Mountain Centennial Preserve

The Badger Mountain Centennial Preserve protects the Badger Mountain on the border of Richland in the US state of Washington . It offers views of the Tri-Cities as well as the Columbia River and the Yakima River . There are trails for hiking . Motor vehicles are not allowed.

A non-profit organization, the Friends of Badger Mountain , worked on the protection of this shrub steppe area, most of the vegetation of which is intact, and later set up a hiking trail to the summit. The 1.2 mi (1.9 km) trail climbs 984 ft (300 m) from the access point in Richland to the summit.

The Friends of Badger Mountain have been working since May 2018 to use $ 1.5 million in donations to purchase 205 acres (83 hectares) of land around Candy Mountain to expand the sanctuary and create new trails up to the mountain create. This is considered the next step in the goal of a 20 mi (32 km) trail that connects Little Badger Mountain, Badger Mountain, Candy Mountain, and Red Mountain .
