The Badminton Association Saxony eV , or BVS for short, was founded on June 9, 1990 in Dresden- Gittersee . He went out of the badminton -Bezirksfachausschüssen Leipzig , Dresden and Karl-Marx-Stadt forth (Chemnitz). The founding chairman was Manfred Göpfert ( Dresden ). The BVS has 77 associations with around 4,400 members (as of January 1, 2017).

Association history

1990/1991
When it was founded on June 9, 1990, it was also divided into the regional associations that were still in existence. In the same year, the first Saxony individual championships for the active, the youth and the children took place. In addition, the last GDR team championships for youth will be held at SG Gittersee. A national league was formed, consisting of six teams.
1991/1992
In the following year the association first took part in national competitions. The first Southeast German championships and ranked tournaments were held. In the 1991/1992 season, BVS provided two participants in the restructured 2nd Bundesliga, the teams from Robur Zittau and DHfK Leipzig.
1992/1993
For the 1992/1993 season, the BVS couches were restructured. The Sachsenoberliga / Sachsenliga was formed with eight or six teams and the regional league with eight teams in two relays. In 1993, six titles at the Southeast German championships in the youth field went to the BVS.
1993/1994
On June 18, 1994, the first day of the German Badminton Association took place in the new federal states ( Dresden ). She released her first talent centers for badminton of Landessportbund Saxony . Robur Zittau won the season in the Regionalliga, but missed the right to start the 2nd Bundesliga in the promotion games.
1995/1996
As a South German team champion, Robur Zittau was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga. BVS won the first German championship title in the men's age group over 45 years.
1996/1997
In 1997 the starters of the BVS won all titles at the Southeast German Championships in the age group under 18 years.
1997/1998
In the following year, the club Blau-Weiß Röhrsdorf became Southeast team champion and thus made it to the 2nd Bundesliga. This means that two teams from Saxony are represented in this league. On October 31 and November 1, 1998, a high-ranking badminton tournament took place in the Free State of Saxony for the first time with the German youth ranking, age group under 19 years. In the age group over 45 years, Hans-Jürgen Göhler defended his title as German champion. In addition, there were numerous bronze places for BVS starters at these championships. Volkmar Kelling became the new president of the BVS.
1998/1999
In 1999, Blau-Weiß Röhrsdorf rose again from the 2nd Bundesliga after one season. The following year, Zittau had to leave this league after five years.
2000/2001
In 2001 Robur Zittau was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga and Radebeuler BV was promoted to the regional league. Janet Köhler from Radebeuler BV was the first Saxon to be part of the Germany talent team and was at the top of the German junior ranking in the under 15 age group.
2001/2002
The following year Zittau left the 2nd Bundesliga and Blau-Weiß Röhrsdorf renounced the promotion games for this league. In May, BVS hosted the 5th European Championships in Radebeul. In addition, this year there were successes in the youth field. Janet Köhler (Radebeul) and Björn Biering (DHfK) were members of the youth national team of the youngsters and J. Engelhardt (Zittau) was the three-time winner of the German ranking in the age group under 17 years.
2002/2003
The first German championship titles went to Janet Köhler and Björn Biering in the young generation, Andreas Benz (Radebeul), Gundel Hinke (Zittau), Monika Mischke (Markkleeberg) and Gabriele Berge (TH Leipzig) in the age groups in 2003. Robur Zittau rose again in the second Bundesliga and TSV Niederwürschnitz in the regional league. The 46th “Silver Shuttlecocks” of SG Gittersee found a new record with 111 participants.
2003/2004
In 2004, Janet Köhler was two-time German champion in the age group under 17 and Hans-Jürgen Göhler won three titles at the southeast German age group championships. At the four-country competition in Plzeň, Saxony won in the age groups u15 and u19. BV Zwenkau 64 succeeded in returning to the regional league.
2004/2005
First Saxon world champion was Holger Wippisch (Zittau) in the age group over 35 years and Andreas Benz vice world champion in the age group over 45 years at the senior campionships in Malaysia. The Radebeuler BV failed as the season winner of the Regionalliga on the promotion games for the 2nd Bundesliga. The BSV recorded three German championship titles in the age groups by Andreas Benz (Radebeul), Gabriele Berge (TH Leipzig) and Hans-Jürgen Göhler (Niedersedlitz). Dirk Nötzel (Niederwürschnitz) took over the role of regional trainer. The 25th Eibauer double tournament and the first German badminton day of action were held.
2005/2006
In 2006 the young players Janet Köhler and Daniel Benz left BVS. The SG Gittersee youth team won the Southeast German Vice Team Championship.

Club activity

The Badminton Association Saxony is based in Dresden. According to the prevailing association structures, the BVS is a member of the German Badminton Association and the Landessportbund Sachsen eV The activity is limited to the territory of the State of Saxony and is divided into regional associations. In addition to the Badminton Regional Associations of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, the BVS belongs to the "Group South East" of the German Badminton Association. The association's activities are guaranteed by the organs of the general assembly, the executive committee and the main committee.

Duties of the BVS

The Badminton Association Saxony pursues exclusively non-profit purposes. Activities in particular focus on promoting and practicing badminton sports in the state of Saxony. For this, the BVS must be represented internally and externally. It is the responsibility of the association to issue, check and update all gaming authorizations. On this basis, the Badminton Association Saxony is responsible for coordinating the competition. In addition, the BVS ensures the training and further education of active players, base trainers and referees. The association is an essential factor in the planning and implementation of the structures of competitive sport.

In addition, the BVS pursues the following tasks:

  • Adaptation of the BVS game rules,
  • Creation of an annual schedule,
  • Setting up, coordinating and supervising the state board and standardizing selection teams,
  • Young talent screening for competitive sports,
  • Position and coordination of referees,
  • Publication of results.
