Badminton is a community in the Welsh principal area of Blaenau Gwent , which had a population of 3,110 at the 2011 census.
history
The Badminton Community was formed in 2010 as part of The Blaenau Gwent (Communities) Order 2010 when the Beaufort Community was divided into three parts: Badminton, Beaufort and Rassau . Badminton forms the southern part of the former area of Beaufort, so it borders on the other two parts in the north and on the Ebbw Vale North community in the south. In the west, however, badminton borders on the Tredegar community and in the east on the Nantyglo and Blaina community . Badminton includes the settlements of Glyncoed and Newchurch and is crossed by College Road from north to south and by Bryn-serth Road from north-west to south. The community and the ward badminton are congruent.
Buildings
A building on the Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest exists in the community area : The Church House , built in Newchurch in 1842 , was added to the list in 1999 because it was “a well-designed and constructed 19th century building, that has retained its character. "
politics
Badminton sends two representatives to Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council who were both independent candidates as of the last election in 2017.
