The Bagel Group is a German group of companies based in Düsseldorf . The group's business areas are currently in the publishing , printing and service sectors (finance, purchasing, real estate, human resources).

The group is owned by members of the Bagel family of entrepreneurs . In 2011 it employed 1,600 people. The group includes the TSB Group (Schwann-Bagel), Karl Rauch Verlag and A. Bagel Verlag.

history

The name bagel goes back to a Huguenot immigrant family. In 1801 Johann Bagel founded a bookbindery with an attached paper and stationery shop in Wesel . Later August Bagel expanded the business. He founded a printing and paper mill . In 1878 he relocated the printing company to Düsseldorf, where the company is still based today and is considered the oldest company in the city. In 2013, a stake in the Aachen-based company Allflex Folienveredelung was acquired.

A. Bagel Verlag initially mainly published school books. Peter August Bagel (1809–1881) expanded the range to include picture books, youth and popular writings, teaching aids, maps and calendars. Today the law and regulation gazette as well as the ministerial gazette for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia are published here .

Karl Rauch Publishing House

Karl Rauch Verlag was founded by its namesake in Dessau in 1923 . In 1948 the publishing house moved to Bad Salzig and became part of the Bagel Group. The works of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry , u. a. the classic The Little Prince .
