The Bahá'í community in Germany is a public corporation in which supporters of the religious founder Bahāʾullāh in Germany have organized. It is based in Hofheim am Taunus . At the federal level, it is represented by the National Spiritual Council of Bahá'ís in Germany , at the regional level by appointed regional councils and at the local level by local spiritual councils , each consisting of nine elected people. According to its constitution, the Bahá'í Congregation in Germany sees itself as part of the Bahá'í World Congregation with its seat in Haifa , Israel , and is therefore subject to the Universal House of Justice , which is supported by the members of the National Spiritual Councils from all over the world Years is chosen.

Membership in the Bahá'í community in Germany is dependent on the approval of the National Spiritual Council of Bahá'ís in Germany and can be terminated by it at any time without giving reasons. According to the municipal constitution, one of the admission criteria is a written declaration with which u. a. the submission to the community order of the corporation, as well as the observance of its religious laws (with completion of the 15th year of life) is confirmed. According to the municipal constitution, both the confession and the behavior of the person wishing to join are taken into account. In addition to being excluded from the community, there is also the possibility of withdrawing certain administrative rights within the community. Resignation from the community is also made in writing to the National Spiritual Council and does not require a justification.

Members of the Bahá'í community in Germany do not have to pay any compulsory contributions, fees or charges. The community in Germany is financed exclusively through voluntary donations from its members. Exceptions are charitable, humanitarian or social purposes. Such donations can also be accepted from outside. In addition, however, there is an international tax ( Huqúqu'lláh ) which, as a religious duty, falls within the responsibility of the individual parishioner. The assertion of a legal claim by a community member before state courts is excluded according to the municipal constitution.

The active and passive right to vote applies to community members who are at least 21 years old. There is an obligation of confidentiality for members of the elected and appointed institutions. Individual parishioners have no right to receive specific information from a parish institution.

Membership is not sufficient protection against deportation to Iran , where Baha'i are persecuted .

Local church life

The Bahá'í community in Germany sees Kdö.R. as the basis of local community life. the so-called Nineteen - Day Festival , which is celebrated by the members of the community at the beginning of each Baha'i month , i.e. every 19 days. The right to participate is limited to members of the Bahá'í World Congregation . Members of the local community are not only entitled to participate, but - from a religious point of view - even obliged to do so. Fixed components of the nineteen-day festival are prayer, counseling on community matters and a social get-together. Only members of the respective local community can participate in the consultation with voting rights.
