The Ōnuma station ( Japanese 駅 , Ōnuma-eki ) is a train station on the Japanese island of Hokkaidō . It is located in Oshima Sub-Prefecture , in the Nanae City area .
description
Ōnuma is a separation station on the Hakodate main line from Hakodate to Sapporo , the most important railway line Hokkaidōs. This is operated by the company JR Hokkaido . About 300 m north of the station, the line divides into two branches: the main line of the Hakodate main line and the Sawara branch line running east around the Hokkaidō-Komagatake volcano , both of which reunite in Mori . The Fujishiro branch line between Nanae and Ōnuma is usually only used in a northerly direction; On this, freight trains can bypass a 2% incline of the older route. Regional trains stop in Ōnuma between Hakodate and Mori, which alternate between two branches. There is a bus stop operated by the Hakodate Bus company at the nearest intersection .
The train station is located between the western outskirts and the shore of Lake Konuma. It is oriented from south to north and has five tracks, three of which are used for passenger traffic. They are located on the main platform and on a covered central platform , which is connected to the reception building on the east side of the facility by a covered overpass .
history
The railway company Hokkaidō Tetsudō opened the station on June 28, 1903, together with the section between Hongō (today Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto ) and Mori . After the nationalization of Hokkaidō Tetsudō on July 1, 1907, the Railway Authority (later the Ministry of Railways ) was responsible. This replaced the station building with a new building in 1918. The station was renamed Ikusagawa ( 軍 川 ) on June 15, 1920 . On January 25, 1945 the Sawara branch line between Ōnuma and Mori was opened, the Fujishiro branch line between Nanae and Ōnuma went into operation on October 1, 1966.
The Japanese State Railways abandoned cargo handling on October 26, 1971, renovated the station building in 1982 and stopped checking baggage on February 1, 1984. As part of the privatization of the state railway, the station passed into the possession of the new company JR Hokkaido on April 1, 1987 . No express trains have stopped here since 2000.
