The Auber is a tunnel station of the S-Bahn -like Paris train network RER in the Quartier de la Chaussee d'Antin-the 9th arrondissement of Paris . Together with several metro stations , with which it is connected underground, it forms a junction for local public transport in Paris.

railway station

The SACEM system allows two RER trains to follow one another (Auber 2011)

The station was planned by the architect André Wogenscky , built with the help of the interior designers Richard and Monpoix from 1968 and put into operation in 1971. It is located under Rue Auber, which is named after the French composer Esprit Auber and which connects the Place de l'Opéra with the Rue du Havre leading to the Gare Saint-Lazare long-distance train station . The station is approached by RER A trains.

The long-distance train station Gare Saint-Lazare and the following rapid transit stations can be reached via underground connecting corridors:

On January 20, 1981, a train whose driver had overlooked a recently installed signal ran into a stopping train at the station. The first accident of this kind in the RER network left one fatality and 71 injured. On January 26th, the drivers struck the route in solidarity with the driver involved in the accident, whose license had been withdrawn.

business

The station is served differently by the RER A trains during the traffic times:

  • 18 trains / hour during off-peak hours during the week
  • 24 to 30 trains / hour during rush hour during the week
  • 12 trains / hour on Saturdays and Sundays
  • 8 trains / hour in the evening

Air pollution measurements

A campaign to measure air pollution was carried out from November 10th to December 8th, 2009 by Airparif. This measurement should measure the pollution of the air in the RER station and provide information about the air quality. In addition, the influence of rail traffic on the ambient air should be measured.
