Olofström IF is a Swedish football club from Olofström . The team played in Sweden's second division for several years.

history

Olofström IF was founded in May 1919. When the Swedish league pyramid was introduced, the team was initially divided into subclass, but in 1939 it was promoted to the second division. Here she played against relegation, which was prevented several times on the last non-relegation place. After five years in the second division, the club achieved only four wins this season in the 1943/44 season. With two points behind the tied IFK Malmö and Kalmar FF , the club occupied a relegation place and returned with BK Landora in the third division.

Olofström IF established itself right away in the third division in the front area and moved after 15 wins in 18 season games as the season winner of Division 3 Sydöstra Södra in the promotion games. After a 3-1 defeat and a 1-1 draw against Kalmar AIK , however, the club missed direct promotion. In the following season, the club repeated the relay win with the same points as Bromölla IF due to the better goal quotient and met in the playoffs on Västerviks AIS . Two wins meant a return to the second class. The stay lasted only one season, however, as a seventh place in the table was not enough to keep the league due to a league reform. Together with Kalmar AIK, Malmö BI , Nybro IF and Alets IK , the team returned to the third division.

Olofström IF played in the third division for two years before the team, as relegated to fourth division, said goodbye to higher class football for a long time. After returning to the fourth division in 1996 as champions of the fifth division Division 4 Blekinge , she reached the promotion games to the third division the following year as second in the season Division 3 Sydvästra Götaland , in which she prevailed in four games. As a newcomer, she also surprised at this level of play and missed the march into the second division as third in the table only because of the worse goal difference compared to the tied competitor IFK Malmö. The club could not confirm this success and was passed through to the sixth division in the following three seasons. There the club established itself before the division was relegated to the seventh division when Division 1 was introduced as the new third-highest division in the 2006 season.
