The Barcelona-Sagrera train station (also La Sagrera ) is a long-distance and regional train station under construction in the northeast of the Catalan metropolis of Barcelona since 2008 . After completion, which is planned for 2023, it will be the second largest train station in the city after Barcelona-Sants . It is on the high-speed line Madrid – Barcelona – France ; with the R1 and R2 lines it will be connected to the Rodalies Barcelona public transport network. This means that the station has track systems in both standard gauge (long-distance traffic) and broad gauge (local traffic). Further RENFE trains are to be run to Valencia , Girona , Figueres or Cerbère . In addition, the station is served by the Barcelona Metro with lines L9 and L10.
In addition, the station section Sagrera Meridiana will be opened a little north , at which the Rodalies lines R3, R4 and R7 as well as the metro lines L1 and L5 will stop.
The station building was designed by the US architect Frank Gehry (* 1929).
