Railway stations in Lower Saxony |
The station Bohmte is a station on the railway line Bremen-Osnabrück . It was built in 1871/72 and opened on May 15, 1873. In 1900 the private Bohmte Ost train station was added to the Wittlager Kreisbahn on the Holzhausen-Heddinghausen-Damme line. The station is used by 900 travelers every day. It is not barrier-free .
Reception building
The listed station building was built in 1871/72 and in major parts still corresponds to the original condition. Corner accentuations with corner pilasters, quilted gable cornices, ornaments made of brick and openings under semicircular arches give all building facades their distinctive appearance.
A restaurant was housed in the building until December 2010.
In 2004, the entire area around the station in the Mitte district was renewed. The construction costs were around ten million euros. The project was funded by the state of Lower Saxony.
stretch
The station is on the main route from Hamburg via Bremen and Osnabrück to the Ruhr area. This was double-tracked from 1881 to 1883 and electrified in the 1960s.
On August 18, 1900, the Wittlager Kreisbahn opened a branch line from Holzhausen-Heddinghausen via Preußisch Oldendorf and Bad Essen to Bohmte. For this purpose, a separate Bohmte Ost station was built, which is only connected to the state station via a shunting track. On July 1, 1914, the extension of the branch line from Bohmte to Damme via Hunteburg was opened. This line crosses the main line to Bremen north of the station.
In 1966, passenger traffic to Hunteburg was discontinued and passenger traffic to Preußisch Oldendorf was reduced to a few school trains, which were discontinued in 1971. The Minden Museum Railway has been operating museum trains on the route since 1977 . At the beginning of 2000 the route to Hunteburg and Schwegermoor was closed due to its poor condition. Due to the increased volume of freight traffic on the remaining route, the VLO , the legal successor of Wittlager Kreisbahn, acquired part of the tracks in Bohmte station in 2007.
Investments
Today (2015) Bohmte station has four tracks in the area of the reception building. The central platform is located between the middle tracks 2 and 3 and is reached via an underpass. The outer tracks are used as a through and overtaking track. The main platform at the station building to the east is still partially available. To the north of the train station was the freight yard, where there are still few tracks today. The station has been controlled by a pushbutton interlocking since 1975 , which is also responsible for the drone and Ostercappeln depots . Here is also the transition to the Bohmte Ost station of the VLO to the east. This has loading tracks and a loading ramp and a workshop. The platform is at the southern exit of the train station, directly at the ZOB near the state train station.
