Planet Asia was born in Fresno, where no known rap artist came from before . So he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1998 at the age of 22 , where he met producer Fanatik. Together they recorded an abundance of songs that helped slowly bring Planet Asia to the fore across the country. Not long after, he released his debut EP , which he named after himself. As a result, he appeared on over 20 publications and worked with countless other artists, which led to his style evolving, he broke up with fanatics and began rapping on beats that were more influenced by the New York style. He also got to know the rapper Rasco , with whom he was able to work particularly well, so that both of them formed the group Cali Agents and released their debut album How The West Was One in 2000 . His second solo EP The Last Stand was released that same year . This and his Grammy nomination for collaboration with the rapper Mystic on the song The W earned him a contract with Interscope Records . There, however, his releases were pushed back further and further, so that he separated from the label and in 2004 released his first album The Grand Opening on Avatar. The Sickness - Part One followed in 2005 and the album The Medicine, produced entirely by Evidence (by the Dilated Peoples ) a year later . On June 26, 2007 he released another album, Jewelry Box Sessions , under the pseudonym King Medallions .
