List of train stations in Italy |
The Bruneck train station ( Italian Stazione di Brunico ) is located on the Pustertalbahn in the east of South Tyrol .
location
The train station is located at an altitude of 828 m in Bruneck , the capital of the Puster Valley . The city center, a little to the east, can be reached quickly from the train station near the Rienz .
history
The station was put into operation in 1871 together with the Pustertalbahn advanced by the Southern Railway Company . From 1908 to 1957 it also served as the terminus of the Tauferer Bahn . Structural additions by the Ferrovie dello Stato date from the 1920s, including two apartment blocks by Angiolo Mazzoni on the station square.
In 2001, the South Tyrolean Transport Structures launched a competition with the content of converting the train station into a mobility center. A first part of the project, namely renovation work on the historical building fabric, was carried out in 2009.
Buildings
The reception building designed by Wilhelm von Flattich is a building made of granite stones with wooden gables . Due to the great success of the Pustertalbahn, it was soon supplemented by a west and an east wing. On the track side, the entire complex was provided with an attached roof in a steel-wood construction. In addition, there are a number of other functional buildings from different eras on the station grounds.
function
The Bruneck train station is served by regional trains from Trenitalia and SAD , which also operate several bus connections to the train station.
