August Ferdinand von Sobbe (born September 19, 1753 in Schildesche , † February 15, 1821 in Berlin ) was a Prussian colonel and the last commander of the fusilier battalion No. 18.

Life

Origin and family

August was a member of a Westphalian noble family . His parents were the Prussian war councilor Karl von Sobbe (1687–1764) and Johanna Margarethe Charlotte Engelbrecht (1713–1764). The Prussian district president in Münster Wilhelm Ludwig von Sobbe (1750-1810), as well as the two Prussian officers, Major Clamor Moritz von Sobbe (1744–1799) and Major General Georg Dietrich von Sobbe (1747–1823), who in 1774 were recognized by the nobility in Prussia was, were his brothers. He himself remained unmarried and left no physical heirs.

military service

August Ferdinand von Sobbe was a student at the Latin school in Halle from 1764 . He later served as an officer in the Prussian army . On June 15, 1800 Sobbe became commander of the Fusilier Battalion No. 18 and remained in this position until 1806. His battalion with garrison in Wesel belonged together with the Fusilier Batilons No. 19 and No. 20 to the Westphalian Fusilier Brigade and took under his Leadership in the fighting at Jena and Magdeburg before it was disbanded. Sobbe received his farewell with pension and died the 1821st
