The Datemombetsu Station ( Jap. 伊達紋駅 , Datemombetsu-eki ) is a train station on the Japanese island of Hokkaido . It is located in the Iburi Sub-Prefecture in the Date City area .

description

Datemombetsu is a through station and former separation station on the Muroran main line from Oshamambe via Higashi-Muroran and Tomakomai to Iwamizawa . This is operated by the company JR Hokkaido . The Super Hokuto and Hokuto express trains stop in Datemombetsu and run between Hakodate and Sapporo every one to two hours . There are also regional trains between Oshamambe and Higashi-Muroran (ten train pairs daily). Various city and regional bus lines run by the Dōnan Bus company stop in the forecourt of the station .

The station is located in the Yamashita-chō district and is oriented from northwest to southeast. It has three tracks, all of which are used for passenger traffic. They are located on the main platform and on a central platform that is connected to the station building on the north side of the facility by a covered overpass . There is also a footbridge over the tracks, but without access to the platforms.

history

The Ministry of Railways opened on August 20, 1925 a section of the temporarily called Chōrin Line ( 長 輪 線 , Chōrin-sen ) between Higashi-Muroran and Oshamambe. The station was the western terminus for a little more than three years, until the opening of the subsequent section to Shizukari on September 10, 1928. This meant that the entire route between Higashi-Muroran and Oshamambe was continuously passable. Since 1931, the Chōrin Line has been considered part of the Muroran Main Line.

On December 15, 1940, the private rail company Iburi Jūkan Tetsudō opened a 35 km long branch line from Datemombetsu to Shin-Ōtaki. With the opening of the section between Shin-Ōtaki and Kimobetsu in the following year, the Iburi line leading to Kutchan was completed. In 1944 the company was nationalized. For cost reasons, the Japanese State Railways gave up baggage check on March 14, 1985. On November 1, 1986, it stopped handling goods and shut down the entire Iburi line. In the course of the privatization of the state railway, the station passed on April 1, 1987 into the possession of the new company JR Hokkaido .
