The Oshamambe Station ( Jap. 長万部駅 , Oshamambe-eki ) is a train station on the Japanese island of Hokkaido . It is located in Oshima Sub-Prefecture in the Oshamambe City area . From 2031 it will be served by Shinkansen high-speed trains.

description

Oshamambe is a separation station on the Hakodate main line from Hakodate to Sapporo , Hokkaidō's most important railway line. From this the Muroran main line branches off in the direction of Muroran , Tomakomai and Iwamizawa . Both lines are operated by the JR Hokkaido company.

In addition to regional trains, all express trains between Hakodate and Sapporo also stop in Oshamambe . These are called Hokuto and Super Hokuto and operate on the Hakodate – Oshamambe – Muroran – Tomakomai – Sapporo route. The section of the Hakodate main line between Oshamambe and Kutchan runs through sparsely populated areas and is therefore only used by a few regional trains every day. Bus routes operated by Hakodate Bus and Niseko Bus stop in front of the station .

The station is on the edge of the city center and faces south to north. He owns ten tracks; four of them are used for passenger traffic and are located on two central platforms . A covered overpass creates the connection to the reception building on the east side of the facility.

history

The railway company Hokkaidō Tetsudō opened the station on November 3, 1903, together with the Mori –Neppu section of the Hakodate main line. After the nationalization on July 1, 1907, the Railway Office (later the Railway Ministry ) was responsible. It took the Oshamambe – Shizukari line into operation on December 10, 1923, the first section of the Muroran main line; from 1928 the route was continuously passable. Upgrades to double lanes took place in 1965 between Oshamambe and Nakanosawa and in 1969 between Oshamambe and Shizukari.

From 1929 to 1986, Oshamambe was the starting point for all passenger trains that turned onto the Setana line nine kilometers further south in Kunnui. For cost reasons, the Japanese State Railways stopped handling goods on February 1, 1984, and checked baggage on March 14, 1985. Shortly after the renovation of the reception building was completed, the station passed into the ownership of the new company JR Hokkaido on April 1, 1987 as part of the privatization of the state railway .

future

The Hokkaidō-Shinkansen high-speed line has ended at Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto station since 2016 . Construction is currently underway on the second stage to Sapporo. In Oshamambe, an elevated system for Shinkansen trains is to be built immediately to the west of the existing station. The opening is planned for 2031.
