The Lübeck-Travemünde Hafen train station (also known as the port train station ) is one of the three Travemünde train stations next to the beach train station and the stop at Skandinavienkai . In operational terms, Lübeck-Travemünde Hafen is not a train station, but a stopping point.
history
The builder of the station was the Lübeck-Büchener Eisenbahn , which opened the line from Lübeck Hauptbahnhof to the port station in 1882 . This was only extended to the Strandbahnhof in 1898. In 1913, an almost five-kilometer branch line from the port station to Niendorf was built to make this place easier for tourists to reach. In the course of this, the port station, like the beach station shortly before, received a newly constructed station building under plans by Fritz Klingholz . In 1974 the branch line to Niendorf (Baltic Sea) was shut down again. In 1996 the station building was sold and is now used as a restaurant. In 2004, the station, which has been a listed building since 1992, was modernized and a new outer platform was created on the route of the former platform 1 at the station building. The central platform with tracks 2 and 3 was given up for this purpose. The freight tracks with open loading track and ramp west of the reception building (tracks 12 and 13), now the parking lot, and the tracks north of the platforms (tracks 4 to 8), also with ramps, have also been abandoned and no longer connected and partially dismantled. The station and the line have been electrified since 2008.
