The Lübeck Airport stop is an airport train station on the Lübeck – Lüneburg railway line . It was opened on May 28, 2008 after only six weeks of construction. The construction costs amounted to around 1.4 million euros. It is located a few hundred meters north of the abandoned Lübeck- Blankensee train station .
location
The Lübeck – Lüneburg railway runs in the immediate vicinity of Lübeck-Blankensee Airport . The distance between the stop and the airport terminal is 300 meters.
The stop at this point has improved the accessibility of the airport. The travel time from Lübeck main station fell from sometimes over 30 minutes (bus) to under ten minutes.
An elevator to the bridge over the platform shortens the route to the airport significantly. The elevator took over two years to complete.

The stopping point is approached every hour in every direction (as of 2019). For use on schedule railcars of series 648 . Some of the trains provide a direct connection from Kiel Hauptbahnhof to this stop; From Hamburg there are two connections per hour, but with a change in Lübeck or Büchen .
Since the end of international air traffic, which was operated by Ryanair and Wizz Air , the trains have only stopped when necessary since December 11, 2016.

Planning
There were proposals to set up an S-Bahn line from the airport to the Lübeck districts. In view of the poor development of the airport, however, a realization is not in sight.
