List of train stations in Italy |
The Sanremo train station is the train station of the city of Sanremo in Italy, Liguria region, Imperia province.
history
Railway station from 1872
The old train station was opened in 1872. It was located in Piazza Cesare Battisti ( 43 ° 49 ′ N , 7 ° 46 ′ E ). The reception building has been preserved and is used commercially. The tracks were removed and an approximately 20 km long bicycle and pedestrian path was created between Ospedaletti in the southwest and San Lorenzo al Mare in the northeast.
Station from 2001
The current station was rebuilt at another location as part of the expansion of the Genova – Ventimiglia railway line and opened in 2001.
investment
The station is in a tunnel. A 700 m long pedestrian tunnel with moving walks leads from the station building to the platforms. Operationally, it is a stop with outside platforms on the two through tracks.
The reception building is at the end of a narrow piece of land, behind which a mountain slope rises. The building partially encloses a round driveway. A middle zone is located above a glazed ground floor, which is characterized by dark, horizontal ribbon windows. Above that is a zone with sculpturally shaped building masses. The entrance door, which is marked in the facade by an enlarged window above, leads to a round hall with a dome where the ticket office and a bar are located and from where the pedestrian tunnel leads to the platforms.
Location and operation
The reception building is located in the urban area east of the center on Corso Felice Cavallotti. All scheduled passenger trains stop there. In long-distance traffic there are direct connections to Nice , Genoa , Milan and Rome, among others .
