history
The railroad reached Sevenoaks on June 2, 1862 when the London, Chatham and Dover Railway opened the line from Swanley . The first station, the Bat & Ball station , is on the northern edge of the city.
On March 2, 1868, the South Eastern Railway opened the South Eastern Main Line between Chislehurst and Sevenoaks, so that there were now two stations in Sevenoaks. On May 1st, the continuation of the line to Tonbridge was opened. This also includes a nearly 3,200 meter long tunnel at Sevenoaks. The connection between the two Sevenoaks train stations was opened on August 1, 1869.
On January 6, 1935, the electrical operation from the north was opened with 660-volt power rails , and the station was also rebuilt. By June 1961, the South Eastern Main Line was completely electrified with 750 volts. In the 1970s, the station was reduced from six tracks to four.
